After ten wonderful years of inspiring and educating young women to be actively involved in the direction of their lives, the Tall Ship Education Academy is suspending operation of its programs. While we are all saddened to see such a powerful and rewarding educational program not continue, we are proud to have been given the opportunity to develop such a strong program and touch so many young women's lives.
The following information and links provides an archive of information about the program. For sailing programs like the Women’s Challenge, contact Call of the Sea.
Always wanted to learn to sail but never have? Sign up today
for the 3-day Women’s Sailing Challenge, an adventure
trip for women that explores ocean sailing in and beyond the
San Francisco Bay. On board the sailing vessel Seaward,
you and your crew of women will be given a crash course in
sailing an 85 foot schooner, and then make a unique exploration
of the Bay Area under the guidance of your Tall Ship Academy
instructors and Seaward's professional crew. Its a great way
to get a taste of sailing and connect with a group of adventurous
women.
The Women's Challenge was inspired by the many women who
expressed an interest in experiencing a piece of our Tall
Ship Semester for Girls program. No sailing experience
is necessary! Proceeds from the Women's Challenge support
the Tall Ship Semester for Girls scholarship fund. The cost
to participate in the Women's Challenge is $1,500 which can
either be paid directly to TSEA (partial tax deducation) or
participants can fundraise on behalf of the Academy and meet
that goal.

the experience of Marty Makower, Women's Challenge participant.
"Having done the Week for Women, I have now joined
the ranks of those who do instead
of remaining in the ranks of those who admire from afar, safe
and cozy in our own homes.
I now feel anything is possible - it's up to us to reach out
and do those things that most of
us just think are dreams. We can make it happen. We can make
the dreams a reality.
And I think once we have that feeling nothing will ever be
the same again."
